Check if WebP is lossy or lossless

The WebP image format supports both lossy and lossless image compression. This free online service will check if your WebP file is Lossless or Lossy. It will also display information about the presence or absence of an alpha channel (transparency), as well as animation – all of this is supported in the WebP format, but not all images use transparency and animation.

To check if WebP is lossy or lossless, pay attention to the line “Format:”. If this line contains the word “Lossless”, then the compression is lossless, and if the word “Lossy” is present, then the compression is lossy.

To check for transparency in WebP, pay attention to the line “Alpha:”, if its value is 0, then there is no transparency, if the value is 1, then there is transparency.

Similarly with animation, if WebP has animation, the “Animation:” field will be 1, otherwise the value will be 0.

In addition to the WebP-specific information, technical details about the image file will also be displayed.

If you want to convert photos in any format to WebP images, use the following service: Free online WebP converter service to reduce the size of images without losing quality. This service can convert both to lossless WebP and lossy WebP.
